What’s the most important skill for tomorrow’s jobs?

This week, a question and activity directly from the “Future Ready” conference, organised by Auris and hosted at Amazon Web Services in London.

In this video, we ask some people with very important jobs doing very important work a simple question: to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow, what skill should young people practise the most?

To find out what they said, click below to play on Youtube, or at this link.

Ask your students: Who do you agree with most?

You could put the different options around the room on whiteboards/pieces of A3 and do a “Vote With Your Feet” activity where they show their thinking by standing at one of the answers – is it resilience, commitment or productivity? Or something else?

You could also do a “Question Mutation” by altering the focus slightly:

  • Which skill should we as a class focus on more?
  • Which is most important for English? Maths? Physical Education?
  • What’s the least important skill for the jobs of tomorrow?

Contact us with what your students voted for (or which one you want think is most important for them – and it doesn’t have to be one of the above) and we’ll send you an activity specifically for that. No catch – just something tailored for you. You can reply directly to this email, or send to tom@thephilosophyman.com
