Privacy Policy

The Philosophy Man is committed to protecting your data and privacy. We have spent 7 years building a list of subscribers to our free resources bulletin, and have done this by doing exactly that: providing free, classroom-ready P4C resources. We are not in the business of selling, renting or trading email lists, and we never passed on our data to anyone, and never will. We also collect the bare essential data needed to post items that have been bought in our shop, and our Livechat facility on our website asks for your email address so we can send you a response if we arenโ€™t online. In this Privacy Policy, weโ€™ll clearly and helpfully explain when, how and why we collect your personal information, how we use it, and how we keep it secure.

Website Analytics

When someone visits www.thephilosophyman.com we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

We also use a ConvertFox Livechat facility, which asks for your email address so we can send you a response if we are not online. Convertfox also tells us which web-pages you have been on, so we know what item/product/offer you are writing to us about (you might not have made it clear on your message), and your location, as most people ask about training, and so we need to know where you are to give the most accurate answer on what we can provide.

Our bulletin list

When you sign up to our free email bulletin via our website, you give us your name and email address. You are then asked to โ€œDouble Opt-Inโ€ by clicking a link in an immediate email titled: โ€œPlease Confirm You Want Us To Send You Stuff.โ€ We make it very clear in the email what you will be receiving โ€“ Free P4C resources.

We use your email address to send you weekly P4C resources, as requested, and your name to personalise the emailโ€™s greeting. We sometimes use information about your location, from either your IP address or the country code from your email address, to send you information that is relevant to you but not to all subscribers.

We use a third-party provider, Aweber, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. For more information, please see Aweberโ€™s privacy policy

We do not and would never share your information with a third party so that they could contact you. We sometimes include in our bulletin information about events, books etc. from other organisations that we think will be of interest to our readership, but we do not share your information with any of them.

You can unsubscribe to general mailings any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails or by emailing our data protection officer Jason Buckley at jason@thephilosophyman.com
