P4C Royal Wedding Edition

This week, a message from Her Majesty the Queen. Last time we heard from HMQ, she was wondering whether Prince Charles would make a suitable monarch, or if some of her younger subjects might like to audition for the part.
r
In this royal wedding edition, she wonders if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should forgo Saturday’sextravagant display of royal pageantry and instead spend the money on good causes, marry in a registry office and have some sandwiches in the back of the Dog and Duck.
r
r
Although partly for fun, it questions the morality of spending on luxury when there is so much suffering in the world. For older children, you could use Peter Singer’s “drowning child” dilemma.

Got an INSET in September?
r
We have a few slots left for training during the popular INSET days at the start of the school year. If you join forces with with other local schools, it can cost as little as £500 + VAT per school for a full day of training. Here’s one headteacher’s feedback on the benefits for her school:
r
“I wanted to thank you for your excellent training session yesterday. I have had very positive feedback from the staff; they not only enjoyed the day immensely but feel equipped to stretch and challenge the minds of our children and encourage them to think for themselves and speak out. I loved the emphasis on the children being in control of the situation with us as facilitators. I am taking my first two sessions today so here goes!” – Marianne Austin, Headteacher, Kew
