Philosophy Book Club – Monday 1st February 7.30 p.m
Free ticket for the Zoom for P4C Teachers session, 7.30 p.m. Monday 1st February
Stoicism is a “philosophy of life” with roots in Ancient Greece and Rome and parallels with Buddhism and some religious traditions. It’s having something of a revival at the moment, and perhaps deservedly so. This accessible introduction is a good read that combines theory and practical advice. You can buy it via this link (something goes to charity if you do):
Ancient Art of Stoic Joy by William B Irvine
We’ll discuss the book and the wider practice of stoicism, and some of the criticisms you might have of it. I don’t think spoiler alerts are a thing in stoicism so if you haven’t read it and are considering doing so, feel free to join us.
“Buy” this free ticket in the shop to download a PDF with the Zoom link. You will be able to download the PDF by clicking the red box on the confirmation page after you place your order, or by clicking it in the email that will come through to you.
