Six Weeks of P4C CPD & Six Video Stimuli

This week, a convenient way for readers worldwide to access some great video resources originally shown on the BBC, and an invitation to be one of six schools to benefit from our new Philosopher in Residence CPD programme.
r
What Makes Me Me?
r
The BBC commissioned a series of animations based on stories by Jason and by Peter Worley ofย The Philosophy Foundation. They cover themes such as identity, fairness, free will through engaging stories narrated by Robert Webb.
r
These have been available on BBC iPlayer only since 2014, frustrating for readers abroad. They can now be found atย http://www.vimeo.com/63342253ย but possibly not for long so grab them while you can!

Six-Week Philosopher in Residence CPD Programme
r
Tom returns forย another โ€œPhilosopher in Residenceโ€ programme next week at St. Andrew’s School, Salisbury. Itโ€™s one of six schools to benefit from a residency in the past year, and as with most schools who book us, he has been invited back.
r
We are now looking for six new schools who would like to have a โ€œPhilosopher in Residence CPD Programmeโ€ in 2018. We have refined our residencies for 2018 to emphasise teacher development. We will work with your school over a six week period including three full-day visits to your school delivering workshops and twilight INSET, which alternate with consolidation weeks in which your staff facilitate their own sessions with ready-to-use session plans recommended specifically for their class.
r
Itโ€™s a highly effective way of โ€˜showing our workingโ€™ and empowering staff to immediately embed P4C into their teaching under our guidance. Thereโ€™s no chance of teachers saying โ€œIโ€™ll do this one dayโ€ฆโ€ย butย ‘this’ย never seeingย the light of day.
r
We love doing these โ€“ itโ€™s rewarding to work with the same classes, and teachers, over a sustained period โ€“ and so we have a special โ€œresidency-rateโ€ – ยฃ2450 + VAT for 6 weeks of intense support, including three full-day visits.
r
Find out more about the programme atย www.thephilosophyman.com/philosopherinresidenceย and you can also press reply to this email to express your interest.
r
Best wishes,
r
Jason and Tom
